Occupational Therapist AssistantThe primary responsibility of the Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) is to provide direct occupational therapy interventions as planned, delegated, and supervised by the Occupational Therapist. The person in this role will also record treatments given and note progress in medical record. In this role, you are entrusted to ensure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to our residents at all times. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Resident Care: 70% timeProvide occupational therapy individualized treatment plans and needed updates to increase client’s independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Occupational Therapist and in accordance with physician’s ordersDemonstrate competent technical skills according to current standards of practiceCommunicate changes in resident’s conditionParticipate in discharge and community mobility planningPrescribe necessary durable medical equipment to facilitate independence Provide accurate and timely billing records and supporting clinical documentationRespond to family requests and concerns timelyAssure resident abuse or neglect does not occurObserve confidentiality and safeguards for all patient informationTraining/Education: 15% timeParticipate in collaborative care conferencesCoordinate and provide training with Restorative Nursing and other Care staffProvide education and training to patient, caregiver, and community partnersAssist with training and education of facility and professional partnersEnsure compliance with all community mandatory education, training and competence programsParticipation in OTA student development and educational programs Department Duties: 15% timePerform screening rounds as directed by Director of Rehabilitation to assess for client needs and environmental safetyProvide recommendations to Director of Rehab and other team members opportunities for business improvement, safety concerns or other updatesAssists in maintaining cleanliness and tour readiness of the therapy departmentPerforms other duties as assignedTALENT: ExecutingAbility to prioritize and multi-task prioritiesDetail oriented and follow throughTakes responsibility and ownershipEffective and efficient time management skillsCreates efficiency and effectiveness in process Relationship BuildingAbility to foster teamworkCustomer service orientedWorks well with people, including staff, residents and familiesHas a patient demeanor InfluencingCommunicate clearly and effectively Strategic ThinkingAbility to solve problems effectivelySKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge: Current Colorado occupational therapy practices and procedures including laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilitiesSkills: Providing appropriate care in post-acute or long-term care environment (preferred)EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Education: Must be a graduate of a 2-year college level program (approved by American Occupational Therapy Association)Experience: Experience in provide appropriate care in post-acute or long-term care environment (preferred)License: Current, unencumbered, active Colorado Occupational Therapy Assistant License (required)Certifications: Current NBCOT certification, CPR (as requested)PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Frequent squatting, twisting and reachingFrequent walking and standingOccasional resident handling, transferring and lifting from floor, over 100#Occasional crawling, climbing and sittingFrequent repetitive pushing, pulling and grasping up to 50#OTHER:Must maintain a valid, unrestricted Colorado driver’s licenseAll of your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelinesIt must be understood that this job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties you will be required to perform.
